Jessie Huntsman / Oboe
Oboist Jessie Huntsman was born in San Francisco and raised in the East Bay Area, and has performed throughout Scandinavia, Germany, Holland, Australia, and New Zealand. Ms. Huntsman received her Bachelor of Music from the University of California in Santa Barbara in 2010, where she studied with Stuart Horn, and returned home for her Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with James A. Moore III. She has also studied with Karen Ashford, Robin May, Ellie Duste, Ray Duste, Ruth Stuart, and Michael Adduci, and has performed in master classes with oboists Elaine Douvas, John Ferrillo, Liang Wang, Eugene Izotov, David Weiss, Bill Bennett, Ariana Ghez, Frank Rosenwein, and Jonathan Fischer. In 2008 she participated in the Hidden Valley Summer Music Seminar in Carmel and most recently won the 2011 SFCM Baroque Concerto Competition. She has been a member of San Francisco based chamber group Valinor Winds since 2010 and has performed with a variety of local groups including Monterey Symphony and the Contra Costa Chamber Ensemble. Dedicated to music education, she has served as a staff member for La Honda Music Camp for six years and continues to teach Oboe and English Horn privately in the Bay Area. Ms. Huntsman is currently working for the San Francisco Symphony’s Education Department providing music education to over 50,000 students in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
